Art

Residencies, gatherings, and workshops where artistic practice meets the Lab’s tools—from sculpture to 3D printing, from electronics to artificial intelligence.

For us, art is not a world separate from technology: it is another way of using the same tools we use every day to prototype, build, and experiment.
In the Lab’s Art section, we showcase projects, events, and initiatives where artistic practice intersects with 3D printing, modeling, electronics, and artificial intelligence.

Artist Residencies

The Lab opens its doors to artists-in-residence. For the duration of the project, the Lab becomes their workspace: a place where they can engage with tools, people, and processes different from their own, and bring their artistic practice into a new context. The program concludes with an exhibition open to the public, showcasing what emerged from this collaboration.

Chroma Garden

Asperastra’s first artist-in-residence program. Sculptor and visual artist Luca Mingolla worked with clay, 3D printing, and AI-generated images to create a garden that is anything but idyllic: a place where care and decay coexist. The opening night interwove his sculptures with a DJ set by Jazza—a legendary figure in Trieste’s electronic music scene—featuring personal samples and AI-generated sounds. An exhibition conceived entirely within the Lab, born from the intersection of artistic practice and our technologies.
